Anita Ekberg

  Kerstin Marianne Ekberg (Swedish pronunciation (listen) 29 September 1931 - 1 January 2015) was an actress from Sweden, most well-known for her stunning body and stunning beauty. Her iconic role of Sylvia in Federico Fellini's film La Dolce Vita (1960) was a major hit. Ekberg primarily worked in Italy where she became a permanent residence in 1964. Anita Ekberg was the eighth child in a family of eight. As a teenager, Anita worked as a fashion model. Ekberg was a participant in the Miss Malmo competition in 1950 on the advice of her mother. The result was that she won the Miss Sweden contest. Even though she spoke very little English and a little Swedish, she traveled to the United States to compete for the 1951 Miss Universe title (an unofficial pageant in the year 1951, the pageant became official in 1952).
